The Stephen Northup House (also known as the "Stephen Northrup House") is a historic house at 99 Featherbed Lane in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The Stephen Northrup House is actually the Stephen Northup House (no "r") and appears to be improperly recorded in the Register of Historic Places. Additionally, the house is listed as built in 1660 by Stephen Northup Jr. who is actually most likely the second owner resident on this property. Stephen Northup (Northup Jr.'s father) came to America in 1650 building a home on this land in 1660. Due to the destruction during King Phillips War, there is speculation about whether the original Northup home survived the local Native American attacks which burned many settlers properties to the ground. However, extensive renovation and property study indicates the southwestern portion of the home is original to the 1660 building standards with additions made around 1712 and 1850. The present home may have portions of its current form rooted in the year 1660. Read more on Wikipedia
