The Herb House is a historic building located in downtown Savannah, Georgia, United States. Some sources claim it to be built in the 18th century (1733 or 1734),The National Trust Guide to Savannah, Roulhac Toledano (Wiley Publishing, 1997), p. 86 which would have made it the oldest extant building in the state of Georgia;McCarthy, Kevin M. Georgia's Lighthouses and Historic Coastal Sites. Pineapple Press, 1998, p. 9.Brown, Alan. Haunted Places in the American South. Univ. Press of Mississippi, 2002, p. 77. however, its construction in local handmade brickSavannah, Whip Morrison Triplett (Arcadia Publishing, 2006), p. 34 puts this in doubt. Other sources give a construction year of 1853, which is the first year it appears on a map.
